I've been to a lot of games conventions before, but never a comics convention. For the last few years I've been immersed in comics culture so I figured it was about time. San Francisco's WonderCon is one of the big local comics conventions - not as big as San Diego's ComicCon, but still pretty darn impressive.

One thing I realized as I wandered around the convention floor was: everyone is someone else's geek. I was thinking, "Wow, these fans are kinda scary..." but then thought that is exactly what non-gamers must think about people who attend games conventions. Then I started noticing the similiarities between comic cons and games cons (or any sports event really). You have the ultra-loyal fans that bleed the color of their favorite comic/game/sport, you have the costumes of their favorite comic book character/game character/mascot, and you have the copious drinking after the show. Well, the last one is a given for any large social gathering of people, but still.
